State Security arrests Cuban YouTuber, then releases her after fines and threats

In the videos posted by Hilda Nuñez Diaz, known on social media as Hildina, the Cuban YouTuber commits one of the worst crimes against Cuba’s socialist revolution: exposing the truth about life in communist Cuba. For this heinous crime of telling the truth, Hildina was arrested and interrogated by State Security before they finally released her with fines and threats of dire consequences if she continues to post videos.

Cuban YouTuber and professor Hilda Nu?ez Diaz, known as Hildina, was released on Thursday afternoon after she was arbitrarily arrested by State Security. The agents warned her to stop posting her videos, which are gaining popularity on YouTube.

“Hildina is finally home, she was fined and threatened for, according to them, ‘using social media to discredit the government,’ and they made all kinds of threats, as they are so good at doing,” said a post on her Facebook page.

The post explained that “she has no way of communicating with anyone because they confiscated all her devices (cellphone, laptop, etc.).”

Likewise, the post said the YouTuber “finds herself very psychologically distressed after all they did to her and for being treated as a criminal. Thanks to everyone who stood by her while all this was happening. Don’t stop doing that.”

On Thursday morning, State Security arrested Hildina and then conducted a search of her home in Santiago de Cuba, where they took her phone, her computer, and other items she uses to make her videos on YouTube.
