On April 17, 1961, the Bay of Pigs invasion in Cuba began. On this day 62 years ago, Cuban exiles from all walks of life came together to fight for the freedom of their homeland. Although unsuccessful, their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
These brave men already faced great odds, which were mad insurmountable after President John F. Kennedy’s devastating betrayal at the last minute, which ultimately sealed their fate. Nevertheless, they fought valiantly until the very end to free Cuba from the Castro dictatorship and communist tyranny.
Although Kennedy canceled all air and supply support at the very last moment and abandoned these brave Cubans to die on that beach, these courageous warriors continued to fight until the very last bullet was fired.
