No surprise here. Cubans are getting desperate. Fairly soon, if the food shortages continue or worsen, pets will begin to disappear too.

These stolen rabbits caused a stir, because they were being bred for medical research and were rumored to be infected with tuberculosis.

Castro, Inc. officials calmed the public by pronouncing the rabbits healthy. But in a land run by liars, can any such announcement be trusted?

A peculiar piece of news that generated discussion among several users went viral on social networks. According to different posts, a group of rabbits used in medical studies and infected with tuberculosis had been stolen in the province of Sancti Spíritus.

For this reason, in the publications, citizens began to be alerted about how dangerous it would be to have contact with them or consume their meat, given the lack of food in Cuban territory.

This Saturday, the Sancti Spíritus Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) issued an official statement through its Facebook profile to clarify the situation to the population.

The institution confirmed that on May 8, rabbits were stolen from the animal farm, which were used in routine immunization experiments with antigens of biotechnological interest to obtain polyclonal antibodies.

In the same bulletin, the CIGB, located within the University of Medical Sciences, categorically denied the rumors that the animals were infected with said disease, as has been commented on social networks.

The CIGB and the Ministry of the Interior are working on the investigation of this case to determine the causes and conditions that allowed the occurrence of said crime. It is important to note that a vivarium is a place for the breeding and control of laboratory animals used as biological reagents in experimental protocols.

  1. Totally appropriate. Savages should eat whatever animals they can find. They’re not supposed to check them for diseases. The “revolution” understands that, even if “those people” bitch and moan about it.
