Australian company about to begin oil drilling in vicinity of Cuba’s prime beach resorts

From our Bureau of Guaranteed Inevitable Catastrophes

Hungry for profits of any kind, Castro, Inc. has sold drilling rights to foreign capitalists, even though the oil fields involved are right next to Varadero beach, which is the one bit of coastland most thickly dotted with apartheid resorts.

The drilling is scheduled to begin later this month.

Has anyone at Castro, Inc. assessed the environmental risks of any such venture? Can they really afford any oil spills so close to its most lucrative beach? Will Canadian and European tourists be offended by the sight of oil rigs on the horizon?

Has anyone at Melbana Energy considered the risks of partnering with the mobsters of Castro, Inc.? And what about Cuba’s new colonial master, Grand Putinia? What will Czar Vlad the Invader have to say about this enterprise?

Moot questions. Capitalists everywhere are being invited to invest in this venture. Damn the risks, full steam ahead, drill baby, drill!

From proactiveinvestors.com

Melbana Energy Ltd (ASX:MAY, OTC:MEOAF) executive chairman Andrew Purcell speaks to Thomas Warner from Proactive on his way to Cuba, where Melbana is currently mobilising a rig to explore an opportunity at the Varadero onshore oil field.

Purcell says that a two-well appraisal program should begin “before the end of June” with a view to getting the oil into the market “as quickly as possible.”

  1. Boy this will not end well. All will be good until Cuba gets greedy and takes over the operation of any future offshore drilling platforms. Then it will be like giving a loaded gun to a toddler.

Why do I have such a low opinion of the competency of Cuban officials? Well, just look at Cuba.

The arrogant and prideful never listen. They always know best.
