Cuban independent journalist Lazaro Yuri Valle Roca, imprisoned for reporting the truth about the oppressive Castro dictatorship, is being denied medical care while in prison, according to his wife.
Via CiberCuba (my translation):
Eralidis Frómeta Polanco, wife of independent journalist and political prisoner Lázaro Yuri Valle Roca, says that authorities at the prison where he is serving his sentence are denying him medical assistance.
Valle Roca has been held at the Combinado del Este in Havana for over 726 days, and his health has deteriorated significantly. However, he does not have access to specialized medical services, despite constant complaints made by his family and other Cuban activists.
Frómeta Polanco is calling on the international community, human rights organizations, her friends, and followers, informing them that despite the health problems faced by herself and her close relatives, she will resume her advocacy activities, despite the risks involved.
Furthermore, she holds the communist dictatorship of Raul Castro and Miguel Díaz-Canel responsible for any harm that may befall her after taking to the streets and demanding the release of all the country’s political prisoners, including her husband.
Lázaro Yuri Valle Roca, who is 61, is serving a five-year sentence for the crimes of “enemy propaganda” and “resistance,” for which he was found guilty.
Lazarao Yuri Valle Roca is not the only political prisoner in Cuba being abused, and neither is he the first. Torture and cruelty against prisoners of conscience is a well-known trait of communism.
His grandfather, Blas Roca, was an old-school pre-Castro era communist, apparently a true-believer type, but no matter how sincere, he still contributed to Cuba’s downfall and ruin. The “revolution” didn’t come out of nowhere, and it didn’t start with Fidel Castro. There were plenty of useful idiots, as well as worse.
