Four handball players left the Cuban sports delegation in France, after playing the Pre-World Cup in Greenland.

Sports journalist Francis Romero reported that Arisleydi Márquez, Yudisaday Rodríguez, Melisa Arias and Geidy Maceo joined the list of 29 Cuban athletes who have left the island’s delegations in 2023.

This Saturday it also emerged that the young Cuban athlete Mitchell Onel Orellana Rodríguez, 19, left the island’s sports shooting delegation that was preparing at a training base in Spain with a view to the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023 , as confirmed to CiberCuba by the athlete himself, who declined to make any other details about his decision.

In 2022, a total of 63 Cuban athletes abandoned delegations or contracts abroad, according to data from the Cubalite digital site. The figure – which did not include both legal and illegal migratory departures – included athletes from 18 disciplines from almost all the country’s provinces.
