The communist Castro dictatorship blames the “blockade” (U.S. sanctions) for Cubans going hungry and lacking medicine and basic necessities. However, the so-called blockade doesn’t appear to affect luxury cars. More and more luxury vehicles and trucks are being seen driving through the streets of Havana, many of them driven by the most successful new “entrepreneurs” in Cuba, which also happen to be members of the Cuban Communist Party elite and their families.
Via CiberCuba (my translation):
The parade of high-end cars on the streets of Cuba continues
Mercedes Benz, Audis, Toyotas and Mazdas are some of the vehicles that dot the landscape of a nation where the inequality gap is widening
Delegations from 77 countries plus China have condemned the “blockade” in Havana these days, while the regime’s “new economic players” continue to import impressive cars from the United States for “entrepreneurs” who display them on the streets of Cuba.
The Facebook group ‘Diplomatic Cars in Cuba’ shared images of several of these four-wheeled “beasts” that are now part of the landscape and travel across the island, all while many Cubans wonder “where is the blockade.”
