As Cuban exiles or their Cuban American children and grandchildren, we celebrate a new year of freedom in America without ever forgetting how communism destroyed the hopes and dreams of Cuba. Today, we start a new year with the unwavering hope that the tyranny our parents and grandparents suffered and fled will come to a definitive end one day soon. Amen. However, the Cuba that was destroyed is dead and gone, meaning that crime can never be undone. It is only possible to replace that with a different Cuba that will be better than the current disaster.
