From our Bureau of Socialist Funerary Practices with some assistance from our Bureau of Cradle-to-the-Grave Socialist Respect for Human Beings
Surprise! Castro, Inc. deals with the dead as it does with the living, with zero respect. One could also say that it deals with the dead as it does with trash, as something worthless that doesn’t need to be disposed of properly. Socialism in action. This story has left me stunned and horrified. It has given me a new unexpected glimpse into the depth of Castro, Inc.’s depravity, yet another window into the horror show Cuba has become., Moreover, for all I know, some of those bones could belong to my family members, since there is a very likely chance that their burial vaults have been taken by some other family. And why are so many skulls missing? Uh, oh . . .
Loosely translated from Diario de Cuba
A Cuban on social media has documented the existence of a ditch full of human bones, outdoors, in the Colón Cemetery.
The user Tazmania Cubano shared a photo on the social network X showing the unpleasant discovery he recently made when visiting the largest cemetery in Cuba.
“And meanwhile in the Colón Cemetery… This is how the majority of Cubans will end up, lying on the floor,” he said in his complaint.
In the comments he added that, presumably, these are the funeral remains of people who died more than two years ago, whose families do not show up for the exhumation of the bodies within the period established for this.
The publication has received dozens of interactions and comments where other users point out that it is a practice that has become common in the Havana necropolis.
However, the problem does not occur only in the Cuban capital, similar cases have been reported in other provinces. One of the most recent complaints was made in October 2023, from the Caimito Cemetery, in Artemisa.
Several graves were desecrated, and the bones were exposed to the elements. Many skeletons were missing their heads.
My maternal grandfather is buried there. I had heard that all of the spaces reserved for family members (in the big crypt) had been filled by strangers. I wonder if my grandfathers bones were moved out? Not even the dead can escape the glorious revolution. Or maybe his bones were trying to escape Cuba?
