Russia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov, will visit Cuba, Venezuela and Brazil next week, in what will be his second trip to the Island in less than a year, against the background of Vladimir Putin’s pending invitation to Havana. .

“On February 19, Lavrov will pay a visit to the Republic of Cuba,” announced the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, María Zajárova.

“A meeting is planned with the president of that country and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba. In July, the Russian ambassador to Cuba, Víktor Koronelli, assured that “Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin) has an invitation to Cuba, but I don’t know how his plans will align.” The diplomat said it is early to talk about preparations, but added that there are “meetings at the highest level.”

After his visit to Havana, on February 20 Lavrov will visit Venezuela, where he plans to meet with Nicolás Maduro and Delcy Rodríguez, the country’s executive vice president, as well as hold negotiations at the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.
