We remember the one and only Nat King Cole who was born on this day in 1919. He died of cancer in 1965. Like many of you, I grew up with Nat King Cole’s songs on my parents’ turntable. In our case, it was listening to Nat King Cole singing in Spanish.
Did you know that Nat King Cole recorded an album of Spanish songs in Cuba in 1957? It was one of my parents’ favorites! I like it a lot, too! I also have come to appreciate Cole’s great voice and arrangements!
Cole was one of the greatest male vocalists of the 20th century. He died awfully young but his music lives on.
I remember my father telling me he saw he sing at Tropicana.
