Cubans chide photos of Castro dictatorship’s ‘president’ doing ‘voluntary labor’ in the fields

The communist Castro dictatorship sent its sock puppet president to the fields on Sunday for a ridiculous photo-op. The images were about as well received by Cubans as they were believable.

Diaz-Canel sets off to do voluntary labor and Cubans respond: ‘It’s a circus’

Dozens of Cubans lashed out against Miguel Díaz-Canel this Sunday upon seeing photos of him participating in voluntary agricultural work.

The state-run website Cubadebate shared on its Facebook wall pictures of the ruler working in a cornfield, an image that many labeled as fake, ridiculous, and even disrespectful to real farmers.

According to the publication, very early that morning the leader joined over a hundred workers from Party dependencies in a nationwide voluntary work initiative, in celebration of the victory at Girón.

“The president’s job is not to do voluntary work in the fields; it is to govern the country, develop its economy, and lead. This photo op in the field is outdated and a waste of time instead of focusing on how to improve the economy,” said a Cuban from Kentucky.

“If the fate of the people depends on this man’s voluntary work, we will starve to death,” asserted a Havana resident.

“A circus in the photo; he won’t even step into the corn to avoid getting itchy. Look at the clean tools and clothes; it’s disgusting and shameful. I’m 80 years old, and there has never been a worse government in Cuba than this one,” declared an elderly woman.

“These things only create discomfort in the majority of the people, those who have at least a little common sense, as we Cubans say. Respect our intelligence a bit at least. Don’t be the world’s laughingstock. Who comes up with these things? With the current situation in Cuba, the discomfort due to needs and countless shortages, and they come and do this. I suppose it’s for this, to generate controversy, entertain us, and divert attention,” remarked a self-employed individual.

“Wow, we’ll have corn for the summer thanks to our leaders,” a young person mocked.

“And state-owned lands remain idle and unproductive. They don’t do what they should and promote the farce of voluntary work,” said a Havana resident.

“What a show, after the photo, rushing to the car with air conditioning before the sun damages them, all for show,” expressed a house landlord.

“Very clean for having worked in the field. I don’t see a drop of sweat on him, I don’t see him carrying a single sack… in short, photoshopped images capturing his best angle,” affirmed a Havana resident.

  1. Ridiculous scarcely begins to cover it. We’re talking totally cringeworthy, which of course has precisely the opposite effect to the desired one. Either they really are clueless or they think Cubans will buy anything.
