Video of the Day: The Renunciation

A group of dissident Cuban artists, including punk rocker Gorki Aguila, have set an anonymous poem, La Renunciacion, to music.

My translation:

“The Renunciation,” a deliberately anonymous poem directed by Lynn Cruz and set to music by Gorki Águila from Havana, Cuba. Recited and chanted by 26 individuals, including actors, musicians, writers, and visual artists. It was adapted and rapped by Elokuente. Additionally rapped in French by Tajito and in Persian by Justina. Don’t miss the credits. The idea was realized within our theater group following the legal proceedings against the Cuban intellectual Alina Bárbara López for political reasons.
