As value of Cuban Peso hits new lows, Western Union resumes its remittance service

Castro, Inc. can now breathe a sigh of relief, and so can those Cuban families that depend on remittances from their Yo-Yo “diaspora” relatives. Just as the Euro hits a record high exchange rate of 400 Cuban pesos and the dollar hits 392, Western Union is now opening the flood gates for remittances from the “diaspora.” Western Union’s 3-month suspension of services had slowed down the cash flow considerably. Since Castro, Inc. controls absolutely all commerce in Cuba, and all remittances are funneled through its banks, each of the $2,000 remittances sent through Western Union ends up in its pockets, in one way or another.
