‘Cuban Five’ spies freed by Obama stars of 63rd anniversary celebration of Cuba’s Ministry of Fear

How lovely. Look at them. These murderous spies freed from U.S. prisons by Obam-Obama-Dama seem to be enjoying their mini-reunion so much. Tremenda fiesta! And what a perfect occasion for their gathering. Imagine anything better, you’ll find it impossible to do so. They are celebrating the creation of Castro, Inc.’s Ministry of Fear, the repressive agency responsible for turning Cuba into hell on earth and keeping it that way.

And, in case you’re wondering what is written on that kitschy bench, it says “Son una sierra y cinco estrellas” (They are one mountain range and five stars,” an allusion to the Sierra Maestra where Fidel hid from Batista’s army –one of those eternal symbols of the “Revolution” — as well as to the stardom granted by Castro, Inc. to the Cuban Five, who are now top avatars of the dictatorship’s repressive machinery.

Loosely translated from CiberCuba

The five former Cuban spies René González, Ramón Labañino, Gerardo Hernández, Fernando González, and Antonio Guerrero celebrated State Security Day together.

Happy and radiant, the members of the failed Wasp Network gathered this week to commemorate the emergence of the body responsible for the repression and imprisonment of thousands of activists and political opponents for more than six decades in Cuba.

Sometimes it’s hard for the five of us to get together, due to the diversity of responsibilities we have, but if it’s to commemorate the 63rd anniversary of the MININT today, and the 65th of our DGI, we can’t miss it! Congratulations, brothers!” said Gerardo, the most active of all, on Facebook.

The ex-spies lead different lives in terms of responsibilities and positions, and not all of them appear equally in the media, but what is common to all is their life far removed from the needs and shortages that plague the people.

Their privileges in the country, which is going through its worst crisis, have become noticeable at times. In 2021, Ramón and Antonio visited facilities in Cayo Guillermo, one of the tourist destinations in Ciego de Ávila, where they were seen enjoying the dolphinarium.

Around that time, Gerardo, national coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), showcased his Specialized bicycle on social media, one of the most renowned brands in the world for its quality and the thousands of dollars it costs.

These are the perks of the dictatorship for those who were part of the Wasp Network, responsible for the murder by the Cuban regime of four civilians aboard the Brothers to the Rescue planes.

The five were arrested and sentenced in the United States to terms ranging from 15 years in prison to life imprisonment, after it was proven that they infiltrated as spies for the Havana regime.

After their capture, the late dictator Fidel Castro waged an expensive political campaign for years to have them released and sent back to the Island.

  1. Totally in character. But don’t blame Castro, Inc., which is not only bound but supposed to do this sort of thing and always has. Blame the American president who enabled it in exchange for…what? Don’t ask.

Then, blame any Cuban(oid) who gave cover to said POTUS and has yet to express regret or shame.
