As internal and external pressures mount on Cuban puppet Nicolas Maduro to step down — and as international news agencies confirm that records prove that he lost the election by 6.8 million votes — his opponents are now appealing to the repressive forces he has unleashed on the Venezuelan people.
While this tactic makes perfect sense– since it is the police and military that are keeping Maduro in power — the opposition is underestimating the influence and power of Cuban, Russian, and Wagner Group agents in the repressive process. Maduro has accused his of opposition of “incitement to disobey the law, incitement to insurrection, criminal association, and conspiracy.” Stay tuned.

Opposition leaders Edmundo González and Maria Corina Machado called on Monday for Venezuelan military and police forces to side with “the people and their own families” in the conflict the country is experiencing following the presidential elections.
“Venezuela and the entire world know that in the elections of last July 28, our victory was overwhelming. From the humblest citizen, witness, poll worker, armed forces officer, police officer to international organizations and governments, they all know it. With the records in hand, the planet has seen and recognized the triumph of the democratic forces,” they stated in a declaration published on social media.
Following the civic mobilization organized by the opposition, the vote counting, and the publication of electoral records showing González, the candidate of the unitary coalition, winning with 67% of the votes, “Maduro refuses to acknowledge that he was defeated by the entire country” and has launched “a brutal offensive against democratic leaders, witnesses, poll workers, and even against the common citizen,” the opposition leaders denounced.
Amid the government’s crackdown, González and Machado urged military and police forces “to side with the people and their own families” and criticized the high command for aligning with Maduro in what they consider a “massive violation of human rights.”
The opposition emphasized that Venezuelans are not enemies of the members of the National Armed Forces and called on them to prevent actions by “groups organized by the Maduro clique, a combination of military and police squads and armed groups operating outside the state that beat, torture, and also kill under the malignant power they represent.”
González and Machado urged Venezuelan military and police forces to “stop these actions immediately,” accusing Maduro of having carried out “a coup d’état” and violating the constitutional order by proclaiming himself the winner of the elections.
“We urge you to prevent the regime’s rampage against the people, and to respect and enforce the results of the July 28 elections,” the declaration emphasizes.
The opposition leaders called on members of the Armed Forces and police bodies to “attend to their institutional duties,” not by repressing the people, but by supporting them in this political crisis.
“Proceed immediately with the proclamation of Edmundo González Urrutia as the elected president of the Republic,” the declaration concludes.

The armed forces can end this nightmare. If they stick with Maduro, they are worse than worthless.
