From our Bureau of Commendable Requests with some assistance from our Bureau of Preventive Measures for Visits by Dictators
Five Republican senators are urging Jar-Jar Biden to block Trucutú Díaz-Canalla and other dictators from setting foot in New York. Will Jar-Jar or whoever is actually making decisions at the White House grant this request? Probably not. But this potentially quixotic request is a praiseworthy gesture.
Last year, Trucutú addressed the UN General Assembly, claiming he represented the voice of “exploited and humiliated” nations, spouting all sorts of Castrobabble and, of course, denouncing “the blockade.” After touring New York City with his lovely wife Lis Cuesta, the happy couple visited the church where Cuban priest Felix Varela had served immigrants in the 19th century, an event closed to the public during which the oafish puppet president behaved very rudely.
Upon his return to Havana, he was greeted by King Raul himself, and other assorted members of Cuba’s military junta. Undoubtedly, the King and his junta were enormously pleased by Trucutú’s exploits in the Big Apple.

In September, the President of Cuba, along with a large entourage possibly including his wife, Lis Cuesta, plans to travel to New York. This prompted five Republican senators to send a letter to President Joe Biden, urging him to deny them visas. The letter, led by Florida Senator Rick Scott, highlights national security concerns posed by the entry of high-ranking officials from the Cuban communist regime into the U.S.
Other totalitarian leaders, including those from Venezuela and Iran, are also expected to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York, held annually in September. In previous years, Díaz-Canel traveled to the U.S. without issues, even touring New York City with Lis Cuesta.
The letter, signed by Marco Rubio, Tom Cotton, Joni Ernst, and Markwayne Mullin, argues that allowing these leaders to participate in the UN General Assembly would give a platform to “the most evil leaders on Earth” and enable the promotion of ideologies that threaten the nation.
The senators claim that Díaz-Canel, chosen by Raúl Castro as his successor, has continued the repressive policies of Fidel Castro’s dictatorship and cite examples of his government’s hostile actions, such as the establishment of a Chinese espionage base in Cuba and recent joint military exercises with Russia near Florida.
The letter also criticizes Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, accusing him of continuing his predecessor’s aggressive policies and mentioning Iran’s involvement in recent attacks, including the October 7 attack in Israel that resulted in civilian casualties.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro is also targeted in the letter, with the senators accusing him of attempting to steal elections and committing systematic human rights violations, leading to a mass exodus of Venezuelans and worsening the U.S. southern border crisis. However, it is unlikely that Maduro would attempt to travel to New York due to an active U.S. warrant for his arrest and a $15 million bounty on his head.
While the U.S. rarely denies visas for UN attendance, there is precedent. For example, in 1988, President Ronald Reagan denied a visa to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat due to his support for terrorism, and during Donald Trump’s administration, the same was done to Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
He was allowed, by a “prince” of the Catholic Church, to desecrate and defile the church of Father Varela, a man who was devoted to freedom and righteousness and would have seen him and the “revolution” as abominations. Why shouldn’t he be allowed to do his shtick at the UN, a den of corruption and perversity?
And does the “presidential” couple look classy or what? I mean, they’re elegance incarnate–in Bizarro world.
