Cement factory in Cuba collapses, killing one worker and injuring several others

After 65 years of criminal neglect by the communist Castro dictatorship, residential buildings aren’t the only structures collapsing in Cuba. One worker is dead and several others were injured after a cement factor in Cienfuegos suddenly collapsed on Tuesday.

Via Diario de Cuba (my translation):

A building collapse occurred at the cement factory in Cienfuegos on Tuesday, August 27, resulting in the death of one worker and injuries to five others, as reported by state-run media from the central-southern region of Cuba.

According to the local newspaper “5 de Septiembre,” which did not provide further details, the incident occurred “due to a spillage of materials in one of the hoppers of the industry.” However, the report includes a photo showing the collapse of a structure’s block framework.

An unidentified official from the Provincial Assembly of People’s Power stated that the five injured individuals are receiving treatment at the Dr. Gustavo Aldereguía Lima University General Hospital in the city of Cienfuegos, all in the Traumatology department.

The initial medical report indicates one person in extremely critical condition, another reported as very serious, one in serious condition, and two in less serious conditions.

While neglected and unmaintained buildings continue to collapse in Cuba killing and injuring Cubans, the communist Castro dictatorship continues to divert funds to build apartheid hotels for foreign tourists. This is socialism in action.
