The communist Castro dictatorship celebrated the anniversary of the Committee for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) organization, a network of government informants place on every block to snitch on “counterrevolutionaries,” by serving a steaming pot of imaginary stew. The stew is a long tradition of the CDR during celebrations, but with chronic food shortages plaguing the island, there were no ingredients available to make it. So instead, they just put out a symbolic empty pot.
The institutions and political organizations of the Cuban regime continue to display absurd acts, filled with clichés and ineffective propaganda, like the recent tribute by INDER to the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) with a symbolic soup, as false as the gesture itself.
JIT, the news portal specialized in sports, shared on the social network X images of a “morning animated event” in tribute to the CDR for their 64th anniversary, where “the symbolic stew” was prepared as part of the ceremony.

The caldosa, once a symbol of celebration in the neighborhoods of Cuba, has transformed into a bitter representation of the misery and scarcity that marks daily life on the island.
What was once a plentiful and varied dish, made with fresh ingredients, is now unattainable for most Cubans, as preparing a caldosa with quality products requires spending amounts that exceed their means.
And in that context, the regime continues to bet and pretend that the CDR remains the organization of the people.
Like so many other aspects of life in communist Cuba, you just can’t make this stuff up.
You can’t make this stuff up. I suppose they don’t see how ridiculous, pathetic and telling this is. Well, Cuba has gone full magical realism. Fidel Castro’s Colombian lap dog, the execrable “Gabo,” would approve.
