Raul Castro appears in public for the second day in a row at military junta funeral

The King at military junta funeral

From our Bureau of Moribund Latrine American Dictators with some assistance from our Bureau of Momentary Resurrections

Maybe it’s due to some Yoruba sorcery, or a pact with the devil. Maybe he’s received blood transfusions from young imprisoned dissidents or disgraced olympic athletes who fail to win medals. Maybe he’s got a good supply of crystal meth. Who knows? Whatever gave him enough oomph to make two public appearances within the space of two days seems to have worked. Rumors of his death on Radio Bemba has been proven wrong: Ding, dong, the King is still alive!

So, the moribund coma-andante proved to the world he is still alive and in charge. At least for now. But, hey: tick, tock, tick, tock . . . the clock is ticking loudly for the murderous dictator . . . . Soon enough he’ll be joining his older brother Fidel, as well as Che and all of their dead blood-soaked lackeys.

Former Cuban leader Raúl Castro reappeared this Saturday at the funeral of Army Corps General Ramón Espinosa Martín, marking his second public appearance after rumors on social media circulated regarding his long absence.

“Alongside Raúl, we paid a heartfelt tribute to Army Corps General Ramón Espinosa Martín, a true revolutionary whom we admired and respected deeply,” wrote Miguel Díaz-Canel on his official X account, accompanied by photos of Castro at Espinosa’s funeral, who passed away on September 24.

Castro had already made a public appearance on Friday, September 27, when official media published photos of a meeting in his office with Vietnamese President and Communist Party leader To Lam, following the latter’s two-day visit to Cuba.

The retired Cuban leader can go weeks without making public appearances. His last appearance, before the recent rumors, was on September 11 at the FAR Universal Hall, where he presided over a ceremony honoring former Vice President of the Council of State Juan Almeida Bosque on the 15th anniversary of his passing.

At the end of August, Castro had sent congratulations to Cuban wrestler Mijaín López for his victory at the Paris Olympics, promising to meet with him upon his return, although no record of that meeting has surfaced.

Raúl Castro, 93, has frequently withdrawn from public life since stepping down as President of the Councils of State and Ministers in April 2018.
