Cuba’s communist dictatorship’s influence operations include UN officials on its payroll and financing political campaigns in Latin America with suitcases filled with cash. At a conference in Miami, details were exposed of how the Castro regime is corrupting the region and the UN.
Via ADN Cuba (my translation):
Cuba used suitcases filled with dollars to finance political campaigns in Latin America
A notable case was that of Marcial Tamayo, a senior UN official who turned out to be a Cuban agent, receiving monthly payments of five thousand dollars in the bathrooms of the United Nations in New York.
A conference held on September 27th in Miami has shed light on the tactics employed by the Cuban regime to exert influence internationally and ensure its impunity.
The event, titled “Cuba and its disproportionate international influence,” was organized by Archivo Cuba, the media outlet ADN Cuba, and the American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora, where it took place.
It featured former Cuban intelligence officials and experts on the subject such as María Werlau, founder of Archivo Cuba, and Gelet Martínez, director of ADN Cuba.
During the conference, details were revealed about how Cuban intelligence has operated in various spheres, including the US State Department, the halls of the United Nations, and presidential campaigns in Latin America.
Enrique García, a former Cuban intelligence officer, disclosed that the regime has used methods such as secret financing of electoral campaigns and payments to international officials to turn them into agents of Cuban intelligence.
The Cuban regime allocated “suitcases of money” during electoral campaigns in Latin America and to pay officials at the United Nations.
A notable case was that of Marcial Tamayo, a senior UN official who turned out to be a Cuban agent, receiving monthly payments of five thousand dollars in the bathrooms of the United Nations in New York.
The conference also addressed the regime’s strategies of propaganda and disinformation. Miguel Cossio, general manager of América TV, pointed out that the cornerstone of these campaigns is to discredit the United States and portray Cuba as a victim. Three basic concepts were identified in this strategy: denial, distraction, and counterattack.
Experts questioned the actual effectiveness of Cuban influence, suggesting that it relies more on recruiting agents who dislike the United States than on attracting others to the Cuban communist model.
The UN is in bed with Hamas. Why wouldn’t it do it with Cuba? Of course it would.
