We remember the life and times of Celia Cruz, the great Cuban singer known as “La Reina de la salsa.”
She started in Cuban radio and then became the lead singer for La Sonora Matancera, the greatest Cuban orchestra of the 1940s and 1950s. In the 1970s, Celia went global, and her tours were sold out everywhere.
She died July 16, 2003 and her music touched all of us Cubans in the US.
