Starving Cubans reduced to gathering food spilled on the street

The food shortage in communist Cuba is not getting better, and Cubans seeking a morsel of food are finding themselves picking up food spilled on the street. Any semblance of human dignity is all but gone on the island, where the communist elite and foreign tourists dine on endless buffets while the population starves.

A sorrowful scene has once again highlighted the severe food crisis faced by the Cuban people. On Saturday, in Santiago de Cuba, several individuals were seen collecting tomato puree that had been spilled on the street.

The embarrassing incident occurred on the central Yarayó street, where two women, three men, and a young boy eagerly bent down to collect the liquid with their bare hands before pouring it into containers and plastic bags.

None of them cared about the risk of having an accident, as cars and motorcycles passed by them all the time, any of which could have knocked them over.

“The necessity has forced Cubans to pick up anything that falls to the ground in order to reuse it for their daily meals,” expressed independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta, who shared the video on Facebook.

These distressing spectacles are becoming increasingly frequent, demonstrating that scarcity continues to grow in the country.

In Altamira, Cubans who face extreme poverty and empty store shelves were seen picking up pieces of yuca (cassava) and scooping up powdered milk into plastic bags in their daily search for anything they can eat (via CiberCuba):

In a heartbreaking scene that highlights the deep crisis in Cuba, several citizens were seen picking up pieces of cassava from the ground on the road in the Altamira neighborhood of Santiago de Cuba, as reported by local journalist Yosmany Mayeta on Facebook.

The image adds to a series of similar events occurring on the island, where shortages and difficult living conditions force citizens to resort to desperate measures to access food.

Recently, a disturbing video showed elderly individuals picking up spilled powdered milk on a street in Santiago de Cuba.

In the brief video shared by Mayeta on social media, people could be seen crouched down, carefully gathering milk with their hands and placing it into plastic bags. “It breaks the heart to see our elders doing this; the hunger and need are so great that it forces them to do it,” commented one user on the post.

These incidents are not isolated. In recent months, images have emerged of Cubans, including children, collecting oil, eggs, and other products that have accidentally fallen off distribution trucks in various parts of the country.

After nearly 66 of the Castro family dictatorship, the human dignity of the Cuban people has been destroyed by communism, reducing them to wild animals foraging for food. This is socialism in action.
