Miami residents call for the removal of ads featuring Ana de Armas, who’s dating a member of the Cuban dictatorship

Several residents of Miami are calling on companies who use the image of Ana de Armas to remove banners featuring the Cuban actress after it was revealed she is dating the stepson of Miguel Diaz-Canel, the Cuban “president” installed by the Castro dictatorship. The news of the relationship has stirred controversy among Cubans on the island and in exile.

Via CiberCuba:

Following the revelation of the romance between actress Ana de Armas and Manuel Anido Cuesta, stepson of the ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel, the Cuban community in Miami has expressed its disapproval of the artist due to her ties with the regime of the island.

The profile Salomé #MirenLasPrisionesDeCuba posted on the social network X an image of a billboard installed on a building in Miami, featuring the face of Ana de Armas promoting the American brand Estée Lauder, known for its beauty and personal care products.

“Hey Estée Lauder, people in Miami don’t like those who associate with brutal communist dictators. You’d better change your campaign advertisement!” he expressed in his post, criticizing the brand for its advertising campaign in Miami featuring Ana de Armas, due to the actress’s connections with Manuel Anido Cuesta, the stepson of Díaz-Canel.

Finally, the user provided the exact address of the building where the billboard is located, noting that it is on 38th Street, across from I-195 heading towards Miami Beach, in the Miami Design District.

Recently, Cuban philanthropist, businesswoman, and influencer based in Miami, Taty Guiribitey, sent a letter of protest to Louis Vuitton after learning about the romance between Ana de Armas, the face of the luxury brand, and Anido, son of Lis Cuesta.

La Mamilover, as she is known on social media, and the Guiribitey family, including their daughter Camila, are among the top clients of the prestigious French fashion house Louis Vuitton.

It’s insulting enough to Cubans Americans that Ana de Armas is gallivanting around with the stepson of a man who ordered the violent arrest and murder of Cubans peacefully protesting. It’s worse that Miamians have to see her face.

  1. Asombra,

Alex Otaola who broke the news five months ago that Ana was dating el puesto a dedo’s stepson and advisor, but nobody believed him and his social media channel was hacked and the news removed repeatedly [presumably by the Cuban regime] is the one who says that she’s pregnant. He’s usually right. So, unless she wisely gets an abortion, expect a baby in a few months.

I’ll say it again, I don”t understand what got into her head. She is so career driven. The only thing I can think of is that she knows that nobody pays attention to us, that we’re “those people” that don’t matter and she felt that it doesn’t matter if she alienates us, since Hollywood is so sympathetic towards the regime.

    • “Those people” were never part of her target audience, but even so, this doesn’t make good sense. I’m beginning to suspect there may be more to this than just bad judgment and bad taste, not to mention a total lack of decoro. I suppose Castro, Inc. may have something on her or that she may even be a regime agent. The usual claim of being “apolitical” definitely won’t wash in this case.
