Lifestyles of the Rich and Communist: Fidel’s grandson plans extravagant birthday party as Cubans go hungry

Already infamous for his decadent and indulgent lifestyle, Sandro Castro, the grandson of deceased communist dictator Fidel Castro, is not letting up. The privileged progeny of the murderous despot is planning an extravagant birthday party for himself, all while Cubans are starving and suffering through interminable power outages.

This is yet another example among in a long list of shameless displays of callousness by Sandro Castro, who has never shied away from showing Cubans and the world the opulent and exorbitant lifestyle enjoyed by and strictly reserved for the Communist Party elite.

Via CiberCuba:

Amid the severe crisis facing the Cuban population, the grandson of the dictator Fidel Castro, Sandro Castro, has announced a lavish celebration for his birthday at the EFE bar in Havana’s Vedado, which he manages himself.

Several Instagram posts announce that the party will be a blast on Thursday, and even include a dress code requiring attendees to wear white.

The event will include a welcome cocktail for guests, Cristal beer, tequila shots for the first twenty women, and complimentary sparkling wine for everyone.

The missteps of the heirs to power in Cuba are bitter for a population that barely has access to basic food, while government representatives and their families live in abundance.

With his back to any critical situation on the island, which keeps families facing power outages of up to 20 hours a day, Sandro Castro is known for the parties at the EFE bar he manages and for the lavish lifestyle he displays on his social media.

The communist elite enjoying opulent lifestyles and extravagant parties while the population suffers in misery and oppression is not the exception, but the rule. As Cuban activist Norges Rodriguez posted on X, this is the legacy of Fidel Castro and the “New Man” Che Guevara promised. This is socialism in action.

  1. He’s been badly spoiled and will never stop doing this as long as he can manage it. He’s also very stupid. Besides, now he has to compete with the boyfriend of a Cubanoid actress who’s been making news lately.

  2. He’s not going to be scrutinized, criticized or chided in any way by the American Mainstream Media. Fake news outlets like the New York Times that spend reams and reams depicting his grandfather, Fidel Castro, [read this as the satanic beast that destroyed Cuba] as a Robin Hood has too much to lose to suddenly start depicting the Castro family [that they put in power] as rich, selfish indulgent exploiters which is the way that they depicted Castro’s opposition. By the way, have you noticed how the MSM has for the most part laid off the Ana de Armas story even though they are always writing about her?

    • It’s true that, flashy as he is, he’s very small potatoes with no real power, so his relevance is minimal if any. However, he does illustrate an important point, as you note. But no, the usual suspects are not likely to start pointing out such “inconsistencies” or making the “revolution” they’ve long enabled look bad.
