Learning English watching Dick Van Dyke

If you remember those early days of “el exilio,” then you probably remember two things. First, your father had 2 jobs and got home late. Second, you spent many nights watching TV and translating for your mother. We did that watching the snow fall in Wisconsin.

Well, Dick Van Dyke is 99 today. He was born in Missouri on this day in 1925. Most of us met him through The Dick Van Dyke Show, one of the best sitcoms of the 1960s. He played Rob Petrie, a TV comedy writer. His wife was the very pretty Mary Tyler Moore. It was a great show! He was also in several other movies, such as “Bye Bye Birdie”, “Mary Poppins,” and a few others.

Happy #99 to the man we knew as Rob married to Laura,
