100-year-old member of Cuba’s military junta finally shuffles off to his eternal reward

Another dinosaur of the “Revolution” has kicked the bucket, or as Cubans might prefer to say: estiró la pata. A devoted bootlicker of Fidel, he dedicated his life to ruining Cuba and enslaving its people. The fact that he lived so long not only proves that he had well-functioning longevity genes, but also that he licked boots very effectively, avoided being purged, and felt no remorse for oppressing the Cuban people and making their lives miserable. Good riddance.

ommander of the Cuban Revolution, Julio Camacho Aguilera, passed away at the age of 100 on the island this Saturday, as reported by the official portal Cubadebate, citing a post by Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization for the Central Committee of the Communist Party (PCC), on his social media account on X.

“We have received the sad news of the passing of Commander Julio Camacho Aguilera, one of our most dedicated fighters in the war of liberation and also for the Revolution. Deep condolences to his beloved Gina, his children, and the rest of the family,” wrote the official of Cuba’s sole legal party. Camacho Aguilera was the first secretary of the party in several provinces and a member of its Central Committee.

Julio Camacho Aguilera was born in Holguín on March 7, 1924. He was a member of the Orthodox Party and opposed the coup d’état carried out by Fulgencio Batista on March 10, 1952. He played an active role in the fight to overthrow him.

In March, on the occasion of his centennial, Cubadebate dedicated an extensive article highlighting his trajectory before and after 1959.

The native of Holguín was the head of the action and sabotage group of the 26th of July Movement in Guantánamo and played an important role in the uprising of September 5, 1957, in Cienfuegos, according to the state media.

After the revolutionary triumph of 1959, Camacho Aguilera became Cuba’s first Minister of Transportation. The position did not exist until then, and he held it from January of that year until May 17, 1961.

The state media also noted that in the early 1990s, when Cuba was enduring the severe economic crisis known as the Special Period in Peacetime—which was never officially declared over—Camacho Aguilera became involved in the search for “a treasure in the Guanahacabibes Peninsula that was believed could” rescue the island from the crisis.

Later, he served as the director of the Office for the Comprehensive Development of the mentioned peninsula. Previously, he had been Cuba’s ambassador to the now-defunct Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR).

  1. This guy was about 35 in 1959, meaning he was a fully formed adult who absolutely should have known better than to fall for the “revolutionary” scam. No, he wasn’t alone by any means, but his guilt is rather greater than that of someone like, say, Ana de Armas. We should be ashamed there were so many like him.

  2. Cubans like this, who betrayed their society and culture fully cognizant of what they were doing, deserve profound and unceasing contempt in perpetuity. They have essentially no excuse, no extenuating factors, except being really shitty Cubans willing to sell out, not unlike the way Judas sold out. Deeply disgusting.
