He’s baaaaack! The irrepressible Sandro is at it again, this time with an Instagram video in which he encourages his friends and followers to “drink like there’s no tomorrow” and celebrate all the “success, health, happiness, and immense joy” that 2025 is bound to offer them. Yeah. This is deliberate mockery and utter disdain, dripping with acid, an exact expression of what Castro, Inc.’s oligarchs think and feel as well as of their contempt and loathing for their Cuban subjects.

Sandro Castro, grandson of the late Fidel Castro, ignited a wave of chatter and controversy on Cuban social media with a peculiar New Year’s Eve message on December 31, 2024. “I want to extend heartfelt congratulations to all my followers, friends, and fellow Cubans as we close out the year. Drink like there’s no tomorrow, because we’ll wake up in 2025 filled with success, health, happiness, and immense joy,” Sandro declared in a video posted on his Instagram account.
This provocative message comes just weeks after Sandro celebrated his birthday with an extravagant party at his upscale private business, Bar EFE, located in Havana. He labeled the event as “the biggest party in years,” sparking widespread criticism on social media due to the stark contrast with the harsh reality faced by millions of Cubans dealing with power outages, food shortages, and lack of medical supplies.
The lavishness and celebratory tone of Fidel Castro’s grandson have often been criticized for being out of touch with the day-to-day struggles of most Cubans. His latest New Year’s greeting was no exception.
Many social media users perceived his remarks on December 31 as an indirect mockery, given the country’s precarious situation. Sandro Castro, who describes himself as a “young revolutionary,” has faced ongoing criticism for his extravagant lifestyle, lavish parties, and apparent lack of empathy for the hardships facing the population. His New Year’s 2025 message reignites the debate over the privileges enjoyed by Cuba’s elite.
If anybody cared, starting with “General” Castro, this punk could have been nipped in the bud the first time he pulled this shit. Obviously he is NOT helping matters. But, the ruling clique see ordinary Cubans like so much livestock, and they figure there’s no need to bother over Sandro. May they be proven wrong ASAP.
His hairline seems too high, which suggests it’s receding. If he’s starting to go bald, that may make him even more desperate to live it up before further decline. Really, he’s frankly pathetic.
