Mexican businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego made an unusual proposal on social media. From his account on X, he offered free trips on his private plane to Cuba for those who defend socialism and communism.
The billionaire and president of Grupo Salinas aims to give interested individuals the opportunity to experience firsthand what life is like on the island and under an authoritarian government, such as that of Miguel Díaz-Canel.
“To all those progressives, leftists, communists, socialists, and any filthy collectivists, I challenge you to go live in Cuba. I’ll send you on one of my planes to see if you truly enjoy the murderous regime of the corrupt dictator Miguel Díaz-Canel,” he wrote on the social media platform.
Pliego’s offer once again highlights the duplicity of leftists living under the freedom and prosperity of capitalism and at the same time advocating for a totalitarian and corrupt ideology they would never accept for themselves. It’s likely no leftists will take up the offer and give up their freedom and privileges of life in a free society to go live under the misery and oppression of real communism, but as usual, that irony is lost on the left.
