Irony alert

What is the irony of the first black president praising — no, ‘blessing’ — an organization that was founded by a woman — admired by Adolf Hitler — that wanted as many black babies aborted to purify the gene pool. Somewhere in her palatial estate in Hell, Margaret Sanger is doing a Snoopy Dance…

[…] Please take a look at the following excerpt from Jonah Goldberg’s book “Liberal Fascism” for information about the racist and eugenicist origins of Planned Parenthood, then ask yourself again why in the world our president would “bless” the cruel underlying efforts of an organization like this. Do you want him to spend your family’s hard earned tax dollars funding this culture of death? Surely there are people of good conscience within Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion centers who will feel the imperative within themselves to find other ways to help women in their time of need. There are so many better answers than merely eliminating the most precious, promising ingredient we have on earth – innocent human life. […]

Liberal utopia fall down go boom

From The American Spectator, if you read one thing today, read “Jihad Blows Up the Liberal Utopia.”

Jihad has blown up The Liberal Utopia.

The visionary liberal land of political and social perfection.

President Obama is not happy — and he isn’t alone.

You know the place.

  • The Liberal Utopia is a land where gun background checks prevent mass murder.
  • The Liberal Utopia is a land where Islamic fundamentalists have changed their perception of America because the President travels to Muslim nations to give lovely speeches, believes that the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and elsewhere is a wonderful sign of an Arab Spring, and refuses to use the word “terrorist” whether his administration is investigating Ft. Hood, Boston, or Benghazi.
  • The Liberal Utopia is a land where a 2009 presidential video proclaiming a “new beginning” in American relations with Iran will halt the effort to build a nuclear bomb.
  • The Liberal Utopia is a land where the good intentions of Social Security will never bankrupt the Social Security Trust Fund.
  • The Liberal Utopia is a land where the good intentions of Medicare could not possibility result in trillions of unfunded liability.
  • The Liberal Utopia is a land where the War on Poverty was supposed to end poverty — and instead winds up sending violent crime skyrocketing, and, in the words of Thomas Sowell, setting up the American black family for rapid disintegration in the liberal welfare state “that subsidized unwed pregnancy and changed welfare from an emergency rescue to a way of life.”

One could go on …and on and on….spotting those will-o-the-wisp glimpses of The Liberal Utopia (Obamacare here, the Obama stimulus over there, the promise to close Guantanamo way back there) with example after example of this miserably failed attempt to find or create a Liberal Utopia.

Or what our friend Mark Levin deftly calls Ameritopia.

The search for this Liberal Utopia has been going on in this country since at least 1932 and in fact before that when one keeps going on back to Woodrow Wilson’s progressives and beyond to the late 19th century when the progressive movement began to gain political steam with the likes of William Jennings Bryan and a whole host of other if lesser known figures.

The idea is always the same. To quote Levin: “Utopianism is the ideological and doctrinal foundation for statism.”

Or, to simplify: if only Americans are made to do X, The Perfect Society will manifest. […]

A logical conclusion

This may finally explain the preponderance of liberals in California…

Las Vegas Hospital Accused of Dumping Psychiatric Patients in California

Health officials in Las Vegas are accusing of shipping patients on Greyhound buses with one-way tickets to California.

LA’s downtown Greyhound bus depot may have been one of several California entry points for countless psychiatric patients from Nevada, if allegations against a Las Vegas medical facility can be proven.

San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera is formally investigating the complaints. […]

Earth Day, Shmearth Day

The great Stevie J West expounds on the real celebration going on today — hint: it ain’t about the Earth:

Happy “We’re really celebrating the birthday of one of our leftist heroes, Lenin, in addition to the eco-tyranny we’re pushing, but we don’t want to advertise our love of the Bolsheviks to the aggressively ignorant masses, so we’ll call it ‘Earth Day’” Day.

Find any leftist cause that gives the plebeians warm and fuzzy feelings in their over-sized hearts and woefully empty heads, peel back the pretty top layer, and you will find a cesspool of stomach churning reality. Most people celebrating the fact that they’ve purchased a special garbage can for their discarded microbrew beer bottles and Starbucks cups don’t realize, for example, that recycling typically wastes more energy and resources than it saves. The symbolism over substance crowd that opposes logging because trees have feelings don’t realize that over forestation leads to drying up of aquifers, rivers, and streams which not only kills off more trees, but also affects wildlife populations and contributes to massive wildfires every year. And not only is the hemp wearing patchouli brigade hilariously unaware of how ridiculous they look driving a “smart car” that’s smaller than a pack of gum, they also don’t get that they’re contributing to the “destruction” they’re pretending they can halt.

We can highlight the inconsistencies and outright hypocrisies of the “green” movement all day long. We can also talk about the unfathomable arrogance a person must gather about himself in order to believe that he can affect the temperature or overall “health” of the earth, either positively or negatively. Indeed, the arrogant hypocrisy of the willfully ignorant is a thing to behold. But that’s not the ugliest part of Earth Day. The reality of what we’re “celebrating” today is much, much darker. […]

Isn’t that an awesome paragraph?

More on the Boston Bombers from Hansen and Hinderaker

Two excellent dissections about the inability of many to come to grips with the reality of Islamism in our society.

First, Victor Davis Hansen: “The Paradoxes of the Boston Bombings”:

A certain American (or for that matter Westernized) resident or citizen — usually male, almost always young, born a Muslim, prone to guilt over temporary secularization or Westernization, as often (or more so) from Pakistan, a Russian Islamic province, the Balkans, Iran, the Philippines, or Africa as from the Arab Middle East, usually failing in American society, always absorbed within American popular culture and guilty over such absorption — at some moment channels his own sense of failure into radical Islam. He seeks some sort of cosmic resonance and redemption for his own personal inadequacies. Presto, a pathetic loser becomes a wannabe bin Laden jihadist, as murder becomes cause for publicity.

The would-be Times Square bomber, Major Hasan, those who killed Jews in Los Angeles and Seattle, and the Salt Lake City shopping-center killer find empowerment in the laxity and tolerance of American culture that seems to grant unlimited rights to the newcomer or second-generation without commensurate responsibilities about learning — and learning to love — the culture and history of their adopted country. We don’t call these killers “terrorists.” We claim that they have nothing to do with al-Qaeda. And yet they give proof that a post-9/11 Islamism energizes their violence — and sometimes enables it by contacts and training.

[…]

Like it or not, two  half-educated and young killers, at the expense of a few hundred dollars and one dead, with very little capital, shut down an entire city, committed mass mayhem, ruined the lives of hundreds, destroyed the Boston Marathon, and cost the city billions of dollars. But for the chance scans of video cameras, the Tsarnaevs might well have let off more bombs and turned their terror of a day into far greater mayhem of a week. That lesson is not lost on jihadists. To the degree they can enthuse another Tamerlan Tsarnaev in Chechnya or reach a Major Hasan at a mosque or on the Internet, they will continue. I expect more al-Qaedism. […]

Next, John Hinderaker in Powerline: “Why Does Evil Make Liberals Stupid?”:

In the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing, we are suffering through the inevitable period of liberal hand-wringing. Liberals can’t help themselves: while normal people are reviling the bombers, celebrating their capture or death, and debating measures that can be taken to prevent future atrocities, liberals’ thinking (if you can call it that) goes in a different direction. Liberals call for understanding; tell the rest of us we don’t realize how complex mass murder is; recommend introspection (But why? I didn’t do it.); and warn against various forms of overreaction to the latest terrorist outrage. The reality of evil, a constant in human affairs for millennia, renders liberals not speechless–that would be too much to hope for–but incoherent.

These days there are more such outpourings of liberal feelings than one can count, but let’s note just two, for now. First, Governor Deval Patrick, who appeared on Face the Nation this morning:

The governor of Massachusetts said Sunday that he has no idea what motivated the brothers accused of exploding two bombs near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

Really? Hmm. Check out the Boston Globe, Governor. They think Islam might have played a secondary role.

Speaking on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Gov. Deval Patrick said it’s hard to imagine why someone would deliberately harm “innocent men, women and children in the way that these two fellows did.”

It is, indeed, hard to imagine if you aren’t evil. But this is a banal and singularly unhelpful observation. Experience tells us that some people do indeed want to harm innocent men, women and children in this fashion. Muslims alone carry out, on the average, several terrorist attacks a day for the purpose of harming innocent men, women and children, and they are by no means the only source of evil in the world. So our public officials should stop expressing amazement at the existence of evil and start figuring out how to protect the rest of us from it. […]

Satan in charge

I can be a pretty cynical guy at times, but I have to tell you I burst out in tears when I read this.

One day after a former employee described how she heard a baby scream during a live-birth abortion, another worker at the Kermit Gosnell “House of Horrors’ abortion clinic testified today she saw a baby “jump” when she snipped her neck in an abortion.

Abortion practitioner Kermit Gosnell faces 43 criminal counts, including eight counts of murder in the death of one patient, Karnamaya Monger, and seven newborn infants. Additional charges include conspiracy, drug delivery resulting in death, infanticide, corruption of minors, evidence tampering, theft by deception, abuse of corpse, and corruption.

The trial of the abortion practitioner has been so gruesome and vivid in its accounts of the late-term and live-birth abortions that it has shocked the conscience of the nation, despite a relative lack of media coverage outside of local media and conservative and pro-life news outlets.

Gosnell could face the death penalty if convicted and he faces a mandatory minimum 20 years. If the testimony heard today is any indication, jurors will be swayed by the devastating way in which Gosnell and his staff brutally jabbed medical scissors into the neck of unborn children after birthing them, in a so-called live-birth abortion process. […]

Remember this Satanic abomination when a lib talks to you about ‘saving the children’ from guns. Make sure to remind them that every day we kill the unborn all for the opportunity to say they are for “choice.”

Dear Lord, we have lost our souls…

It can never happen here… (a continuing series)

Obama budget to take aim at “wealthy” IRAs:

President Obama’s budget, to be released next week, will limit how much wealthy individuals – like Mitt Romney – can keep in IRAs and other retirement accounts.

The proposal would save around $9 billion over a decade, a senior administration official said, while also bringing more fairness to the tax code.

The senior administration official said that wealthy taxpayers can currently “accumulate many millions of dollars in these accounts, substantially more than is needed to fund reasonable levels of retirement saving.”

Under the plan, a taxpayer’s tax-preferred retirement account, like an IRA, could not finance more than $205,000 per year of retirement – or right around $3 million this year. […]

This is why Hollywood is held in such contempt by conservatives

In October of 2008 I posted links to the YouTube videos of the documentary about the Weather Underground. It is a damning documentary that exposes these radical fro what they are. Today, from Michelle Malkin, we learn that a movie — a hagiography — is being released about these murderers and terrorists. Is it any wonder why conservatives hold Hollywood in such contempt?

Bleeding-heart liberal Robert Redford is already the subject of early Oscar buzz. His much-hyped new film glamorizing the lives of Weather Underground domestic terrorists, “The Company You Keep,” will be released in the U.S. next week. But peace-loving moviegoers should save their money and take a stand.

Hollywood’s romanticizing of murderous radicals is an affront to decency. Redford and Company’s rose-colored hagiography of bloodstained killers defiles the memory of all those victimized by leftwing militants on American soil.

Tinseltown cheerleaders can’t stop gushing about Redford’s paean to gun-toting progressives, of course. Variety called the flick an “unabashedly heartfelt but competent tribute to 1960s idealism.” The entertainment daily effused: “There is something undeniably compelling, perhaps even romantic, about America’s ’60s radicals and the compromises they did or didn’t make.” One of the film executives promoting the Weather Underground movie slavered: “This is an edge-of-your-seat thriller about real Americans who stood for their beliefs, thinking they were patriots and defending their country’s ideals against their government.”

Compelling? Romantic? Real Americans? Patriots? The movie plot centers on a 1970s Michigan bank robbery perpetrated by fictional Weather Underground members Sharon Solarz (portrayed by bigwig Democratic activist Susan Sarandon) and Jim Grant (played by Redford). The group shoots and kills one off-duty police officer working as a bank security guard. Grant goes on the lam and assumes a fake identity; decades later, a reporter launches an investigation into his role in the crime. The movie drums up “unabashedly heartfelt” sympathy for Grant as he works to exonerate himself. […]

A paean to communist murderers.

And how many more like her are there?

Folks, I think you all know that on this blog we call it like we see it. I have felt for the longest time that we have to stop sugar-coating who these liberals and progressives are and call them what they are: marxists, socialists, and crypto-communists. Here is a case in point, via Trevor Loudon’s New Zeal Blog that talks about a California socialist who wants to take our guns. There is no gray area here. This is their agenda. This is who they are.

Yes America, your socialists do want to take your guns, and your land, and herd you into little beehive like urban communities, so they can make you happy forever more.

All over America, communists, socialists and Marxists have been leading the charge for “gun control”

A case in point occurred in Harlem, March 21, where “more than 2,000 predominantly Black and Latino working people gathered on on Adam Clayton Powell Blvd … in a militant protest against gun violence”.

Organizer of that event was Leslie Cagan, a life long pro-Cuban communist, and leading “peace” activist.

Another Marxist leading the charge to destroy American liberty, is Democrat member of the California State Legislature, representing, the 14th assembly district, (which includes Berkeley), Nancy Skinner.

In January, Assemblywoman Nancy Skinner unveiled her bill to crack down on guns or ammunition.

Assembly Bill 48, would require sellers of ammunition to be licensed and for purchasers to show identification. All sales would be reported to the Department of Justice.

The Department of Justice would be required under AB 48 to notify local law enforcement of large-quantity purchases over a five-day period by an individual who is not a peace officer.

AB 48 also would ban the manufacture, sale or import of any device that enables a gun to fire more than 10 rounds at one time.

While nominally a Democrat, Nancy Skinner has also been a member of the US’s largest Marxist organization, the pro-Gramsci communists of Democratic Socialists of America.

Skinner is a veteran of an ’80s trip to Marxist-Leninist Nicaragua. She has also worked for pro-communist California congresswoman Barbara Lee.

But Skinner has mainly used environmentalism to push her socialism.

A “nationally renowned leader in the fight against global warming,” Nancy Skinner founded ICLEI -Local Governments for Sustainability, an organization “dedicated to helping local governments around the world become environmental leaders.” As Executive Director of ICLEI’s US office, Skinner launched the Cities for Climate Protection program —the “US movement of Mayors and cities working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that now involves over 500 US cities and counties.”

ICLEI of course is the main promoter of “Agenda 21,” the United Nations (read Russian), plan to de-industrialize America, and drive the vast bulk of your rural  population into easily manged urban population centers.

As US Director of The Climate Group, a London based organization, Nancy Skinner worked with Fortune 500 companies, clean tech industries and state and national leaders to pass groundbreaking legislation such as California’s global warming bill AB 32.

She also organized the July 2006 Climate & Energy Roundtable with Governor Schwarzenegger, Prime Minister Tony Blair, and fellow radical former california Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez & 15 Fortune 500 CEOs, that paved the way for Governor Schwarzenegger’s signing of AB 32.

In 2004 Nancy Skinner brought global warming to the attention of the National Association of State Insurance Commissioners and was instrumental in NAIC’s establishment of an Executive Task Force on Insurance and Climate Change. Last year the NAIC Task Force released a white paper on the Potential Impact of Climate Change on Insurance Regulation and is currently undertaking a Climate Risk Disclosure Survey for insurance firms operating in the US.

Nancy Skinner also served on the California Energy Commission’s Climate Change Advisory Committee and then San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom’s Clean Technology Task Force.

So why does Nancy Skinner want to take your guns? A misguided attempt to save you from criminals?

Or is it just a another logical step on the socialist road?

If you have guns, you’re hard to control. People like Nancy Skinner don’t like people who do not like to  be controlled.

Way too messy.

Nancy Skinner and her thousands of comrades, have a plan for your life. To get you where you’re too stupid enough to see where you need to go, they’re going to have to take your guns. They cannot leave you with the ability to resist their enlightened plans. This is for your own good.

People control. That’s what this is all about. Nothing more, nothing less.

The war on gun owners

ABC News slams gun owners as the “black helicopter” crowd:

[…] Unfortunately, history is on the side of those “paranoid” civilians who don’t trust their own government. We don’t trust them to protect our Constitutional rights. We don’t trust them to make sure our 2nd Amendment rights are not infringed upon. They’re already infringing on all our Constitutional rights, and yet, even many conservatives trust them with the universal background check issue. The government’s ideal is for no civilian to have any gun or self-defense weapon except for maybe a pair of scissors or a Swingline stapler. Yet, people will trust our government to decide who shouldn’t be allowed to own a gun.

We shouldn’t trust them with background checks and defining mental illness. They are going to impose stricter and stricter rules and regulations on background checks that will continually expand the criteria for those that will not be allowed to purchase a firearm. Until no one owns a gun anymore. And even by that time, they will have convinced most people that no one’s rights were infringed upon; that they were just preventing crimes by making sure guns didn’t end up in the wrong hands. […]

U.S. agencies join the war against gun owners, by any means:

America’s gun owners are under siege on virtually all fronts. Congress is after us, and so are governors such as New York’s Andrew Cuomo and Maryland’s Martin O’Malley. They must think that when they run for the Democratic presidential nomination, a strong anti-gun stance will help them with left-wing primary voters.

It doesn’t stop there, however, as the media, liberal legislators and both federal and state regulators are looking for new and often unique ways to please their liberal bosses by harassing gun owners, dealers and manufacturers.

One major national firearms retailer, for example, has been under fire for more than two years from the Obama administration’s Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. It seems the company won’t hire convicted felons, which the commission claims amounts to illegal racial discrimination. The federal government these days argues that policies that have what government lawyers call a “disparate impact” on racial minorities amount to impermissible discrimination – even when the policies themselves were not put in place for discriminatory reasons. Thus, the government argues that a higher percentage of minorities within the felony population than in the population at large means that any policy that discriminates against felons as a class is discriminatory because its impact falls disparately on minorities.

Company officials pointed out to commission investigators threatening to charge the company with discrimination that they couldn’t hire felons even if they wanted to, because federal law prohibits federal firearms licensees from hiring felons. The investigator’s response was, according to a company official I talked to: “That’s your problem, not ours.” These are investigators and regulators who can read between the lines, know their bosses are anti-gun and will do anything they can to please them. I couldn’t resist…

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

This is just another example, among many others, of why the GOP is dead.

Hey, remember that awesome CPAC speech by Mitch McConnell?

The one where Mitch McConnell said — and I quote — “Obamacare should be repealed root and branch. And we’re not backing down from this fight.”

And the same speech where Mitch McConnell also said, “This law is a disaster, and anybody who thinks we’ve moved beyond it is dead wrong.”

Well, as I told you, Mitch McConnell excels at saying one thing and doing another. Yesterday, Mitch McConnell voted to fund Obamacare.

Hey Utah, he joined Orrin Hatch in doing so. Remember, just last year on the campaign trail Orrin Hatch told you all how he was going to absolutely fight to rid us of Obamacare at all costs. And he got a large portion of the conservative movement to cheer him on as a result.

Yeah, that Orrin Hatch voted to fund Obamacare too.

And now for the punchline — the majority of the Republicans in the Senate voted against funding Obamacare. McConnell and Hatch were in the minority of Republicans who chose to side with the Democrats and fund Obamacare.

Here is the full list of the Republicans who voted for the Ted Cruz amendment to defund Obamacare, but then flipped their votes to actually vote to fund Obamacare:
