April 4, 1968: We remember MLK

Our family arrived in September 1964, or as Dr. King was about to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in October.

As I recall 50 years ago, the news flash on the TV reported that Dr. King had been shot in Memphis.  Then President Johnson spoke to the nation and called for calm!

It was a shock because Dr. King was a good man.

Over the last 50 years, I’ve asked myself a simple question:   What would Dr. King say of the state of black America today? the collapse of the black family? the black on black crime? the terrible black Democrat leadership that runs cities like Baltimore and Detroit? the dependence on government programs?

We will never know but I am confident that Dr. King would not be happy.
