Memories of “Los Jesuitas” and my family from Sagua La Grande

The Jesuits were founded by Ignatius de Loyola, a Spanish soldier turned priest. On this day in 1540, Pope Paul III approved Ignatius’ outline of the Society of Jesus, and the order was born.

They had a big impact in Cuban education.  My father and two uncles graduated from “Los Jesuitas” in Sagua La Grande.  I remember hearing many stories about that school and its impact in the community.

Happy birthday to the Jesuits!
