Spain’s socialist government denies political asylum to Cuban artist who defected in Barcelona

Socialists will always look out for their fellow socialists. In Spain, the ruling socialists have no issue helping the communist Castro dictatorship deny freedom to Cubans, even those who are in Spain.

Spain denies political asylum for Cuban stranded at Barcelona airport

Spain has denied political asylum to Cuban citizen Luis Carlos Falcon Moreno, who remains in a detention center at the Barcelona airport.

According to Falcon Moreno, whose wife and son live in Spain, his request to the Interior Ministry’s Office of Asylum and Refuge was “dismissed” because it does not “meet the requirements.”

The former artist from the Institute of Art and Film Industry (ICAIC), who before arriving in Spain had been to Russia, Georgia, and Turkey, told Radio Television Martí that Spanish authorities doubted his story because he did not ask for protection from the Russian government.

“Russia does not give asylum to Cuban dissidents, that’s why I didn’t do it,” said Falcon Moreno.

On Friday afternoon, he was scheduled to be transferred to “another location” at the Barcelona airport.

The denial to his asylum request “ends the administrative route” and now Luis Carlos Falcon Moreno will have to “seek recourse in the courts” in order to have his request reconsidered.
