Hezbollah in Cuba

For years, intransigent hard-line Cuban exiles have served the same purpose as the main character, Dr. Miles Bennell played by Kevin McCarthy, at the end of the 1956 classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers: we have been warning and warning about the danger of an unfettered castro regime — and nobody listens. Well, here is a another example of our prescience: YNet is reporting that Hezbollah is opening a base in Cuba to facilitate their war against Israel (and us) in this hemisphere. It’s just another example of a long list of warnings that have been ignored.

Shiite terror group to use operations center to launch attack on Israeli target in South America, Italian newspaper reports

Hezbollah has established a center of operations in Cuba in order to expand its terrorist activity and facilitate an attack on an Israeli target in South America, Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reported.

According to Yedioth Ahronoth, the attack is meant to avenge the death of Hezbollah commander Imad Mughniyah. The organization alleges that Israel was behind his 2008 assassination.

According to the report, three Hezbollah members have already arrived in Cuba with the purpose of establishing a terrorist cell there. The cell is to include 23 operatives, hand-picked by Talal Hamia, a senior member tasked with heading the covert operation.

The operation, titled “The Caribbean Case,” was reportedly allocated a budget of $1.5 million. The Cuba base is to be initially used for logistics purposes, including intelligence collection, networking and document forgery.

Hezbollah has been active in South America for quite some time now, primarily in Paraguay, Brazil and Venezuela, the report notes.

  1. Not a peep from this administration. And I am just guessing, but I am guessing this may be an educated guess, that it’s not because they are being clever and taking care of business under cover.
I am guessing not only don’t they care, but…. dare I go further in my speculation?
Anyone else have an opinion here?

  2. I happen to know a Cuban rabbi who has a synagogue in Yonkers, New York. His name is Rabbi Rigoberto Emmanuel (Manny) Viñas. Some years back, I went to a Jewish Center in NYC where he was giving a talk about Cuba, and I remember him telling the liberal audiences about the horrors of Cuba. They paid him no heed. All that they could talk about was that they had gone to Cuba and that their synagogue was planning another trip to Cuba, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Apparently, its very fashionable for liberal synagogues to plan trip to Cuba. Me think that it will take more than an Office in Hezbollah to stop these folks from going to Cuba.
