Cuban Blogger Yoani Sanchez in Miami

Cuban blogger Yoani Sanchez has arrived in Miami and will be making public appearances starting Monday.

After arriving  Thursday, she met with Miami’s Archibishop Thomas Wenski and went to the shrine of Our Lady of Charity. She also Tweeted of her joy of seeing her sister again after two years apart.

On Monday, Sanchez,  who writes the Generación Y blog, will make several public appearances including accepting the Miami Dade College’s Presidential Medal, The Miami Herald reported. Later, she will be at Florida International University.

On Wednesday there will be a social media gathering at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, where the public Tweet her question at #askyoani.

Sánchez is on a tour of the U.S. and other countries to talk about life in Cuba. She has already met with Florida Senator Marco Rubioto  discuss a range of issues, including expanding Internet access in Cuba.

  1. So Wenski meets with YS, in Miami. How nice. The pope, however, wouldn’t give a single minute to the Ladies in White in Cuba, where such a meeting would have been far more important and could have done far more good. It appears that all his free time was reserved for a warm and cozy meeting with Fidel Castro, his harpy “wife” and their spawn. There’s something seriously out of joint here, and if the RCC can’t or won’t see that, well, do the math. And no, I don’t believe this is about cluelessness.
