Cuban state television to begin broadcasting Russian language lessons

If you want to know how deep the communist Castro dictatorship is in the pocket of Putin, it’s this deep. The more things change in Cuba, the more they remain the same.

Cuban television will broadcast Russian language classes beginning in November

Cuban television will begin broadcasting Russian language classes starting in November. This was confirmed on social media by Russian official Vladimir Shkunov, a member of the Expert Council of the Government of Russia.

The initiative is being developed by the Russian Language Chair of the Alexander Pushkin State Institute of Moscow, which operates at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the University of Havana.

According to Shkunov, “12 sessions for basic-level Russian classes have been developed, and they are planned to be filmed in September with the participation of Russian teachers and Cuban students.”

“In total, 24 lessons are planned for each level. The first season will premiere in November on the educational channel of Cuban television,” added the Russian official.

The Russian Language Chair of the Alexander Pushkin State Institute of Moscow, which operates at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the University of Havana, was inaugurated on May 22, 2017.

The teaching program took its first steps months earlier, in October 2016, when professors from the Pushkin Institute traveled to Havana and taught Russian classes to a group of students from that Faculty, as well as providing training to teachers.

Since its establishment, the goal of the Russian Language Chair has been to train specialists who master and teach the Russian language in order to strengthen cooperation in the economic field.

The bond between the Cuban and Russian regimes, described as strategic by the leaders of both countries, has been strengthened in recent months.

The closer relationship with Havana has allowed Moscow to maintain its influence in Latin America at a time of international isolation. In turn, the Cuban regime has facilitated the arrival of Russian capital and investments, granting privileges and benefits to the Kremlin authorities.

  1. All that endless talk about “sovereignty” was always BS. The regime was always willing to prostitute Cuba in exchange for getting what it needed to stay in power. But of course, being totally shameless helps.

  2. They should air lessons on how to improve their Spanish. The patois I’m hearing from some of the recently arrived sounds stupid and annoying. Cuban Ebonics I guess.
