More than a million people showed up for a concert by Madonna in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, where the aging American pop star paid tribute to Marxist mass murder and raging bigot Che Guevara. During her performance, Madonna, who is ironically an icon of the LGBTQ community, displayed an image of the communist mass murderer who rounded up gay Cubans and put them in concentration camps.
Singer Madonna paid tribute to Che Guevara in the historic concert she gave on Saturday night on Copacabana beach, in Rio de Janeiro.
The more than one and a half million people who attended the presentation of the queen of pop saw the famous photo of the Argentine guerrilla taken by Cuban photographer Alberto Korda appear several times on stage, along with one of the actor Marlon Brando.
“Madonna’s show paid tribute to the communist terrorist Che Guevara. Detail: the audience was made up of thousands of homosexuals, one of the groups most persecuted by the revolutionary in Cuba,” said journalist Fernanda Salles on Twitter.
The artist’s initiative generated criticism on social networks from people who were outraged to see the false perception that many have of the Argentine leader in the world.
“These were some of those honored at Madonna’s freak show yesterday, paid for with public money. Among those honored are Che Guevara (a large part of the show would be sent to the shooting wall if he were still alive),” stressed actor Marco Antônio Costa.
“Didn’t the thousands of homosexuals who were present at Madonna’s show know that Che was a murderer of homosexuals…?” MSP-Brasil questioned on Twitter.
As outrageous and offensive as they may seem to some of us, it is unfortunately the state of the world we live in today, where you have “Queers for Palestine” and gay music icon Madonna glorifying a homophobic mass murderer who jailed and executed Cubans for being gay. Irony is truly dead.
I’d already seen this story elsewhere and considered posting on it, but quickly decided it wasn’t worth it. The woman is what she is and always was, only now she has to try much harder because she’s running on fumes of her always calculated daring-edgy-transgressive persona. Besides, if you’re performing in a Latrine setting, it stands to reason doing the Che thing will help put you over. At best, she’s a sad operator.
She’s 65 years old and still playing at being a sex bomb. I mean, I’m sorry, but she needs an intervention.
